Susan Graham kicks off her 2015-16 season with a solo recital in Washington, DC with her good friend, composer Jake Heggie on piano, featuring the world premiere of Heggie’s song cycle Iconic Legacies: First Ladies at the Smithsonian, with lyrics by Gene Scheer.  Following this, Susan travels to Houston for a concert with Mercury Baroque. In November she returns to the Metropolitan Opera for a new production of Berg’s Lulu by artist-director William Kentridge, making her role debut as Countess Geschwitz opposite Marlis Petersen in the title role under the baton of James Levine. Susan reunites with Levine for her next starring role at the Met, in Strauss’s frothy Fledermaus, which the Music Director looks forward to conducting for the first time in his 45-year Met career. Donning pants as Prince Orlofsky, the mezzo heads a cast that also features Susanna Phillips and Toby Spence.

Susan makes two appearances at Carnegie Hall in the coming season: first with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and then at a special concert of her own in company with her closest musical friends. She gives solo recitals in Boston, Puerto Rico, Vienna, and at London’s Wigmore Hall, before wrapping up the season singing Brahms’s Alto Rhapsody with the San Francisco Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas.
