Susan Graham returns to Europe in June with Frauenliebe und -leben: Variations, her recital program centered around Schumann’s song cycle Frauenliebe und -leben (A Woman’s Love and Life). With pianist Malcolm Martineau, she performs at the Opéra National de Bordeaux on Tuesday, June 7, followed by an evening at Madrid’s Teatro Real on Saturday, June 11.

Frauenliebe und -leben: Variations augments each song from Schumann’s cycle — which tells a story of love, marriage, and death — with related works by Grieg, Strauss, Fauré, Mahler, Ravel, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Poulenc, and others, expanding thematically upon the celebrated collection. Find more information on Susan’s tour schedule.
